Workshops on Video-based Learning Community (VBLC)

Introduction:

With the objective to explore the potential of sharing digital videos for enhancing learning and teaching activities of the University, Video-based Learning Community (VBLC) has been developed by LTTC with more than 300 staff and 900 students account created in VBLC and more than one thousand videos uploaded supporting various learning and teaching activities. By allowing VBLC users to upload video and create their own learning community, both staff and students can share their own self-produced videos to specific community, discuss and construct knowledge on various topics such as good practices of teaching. The VBLC can be further enhanced to a Learning Management System platform achieving the aims of sharing of multimedia teaching materials, online learning activities and teaching practice assessment.

Two VBLC workshops are now organized aiming at new users and advanced users of the platform. The enrollment link will be announced very soon. You can enroll here. The details are as follows:

 

Workshop 1: Introduction to LTTC’s Video-Based Learning Community

Workshop Objectives: This workshop is designed for new users to familiarize with the basic features of VBLC. By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

I. Understand what is VBLC
II. Upload and share videos
III. Create communities for video sharing
IV. Invite community members
V. Share videos to community
VI. Submit comments to specific video segment in community discussion forum

Workshop 2: Managing Your Video-Based Learning Community

Workshop Objectives: This workshop is tailored for the advanced users of VBLC. Features of video titling and video annotation will be introduced, while management of learning communities will be further explored for supporting knowledge sharing and construction. By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:

I. Manage their videos in more structural manner, such as categorise videos, video duplication, join videos, flip video, share by secret link etc.
II. Attach documents
III. Create subtitles for videos
IV. Manage community in dashboard
V. Post and response in discussion forum
VI. Export discussion forum
