Abstract

Dr. Jason CHAN, recipient of the UGC Teaching Award 2018 and HKUST Common Core Teaching Excellence Award 2016, will reveal his secret formulae of teaching in this seminar. In particular, he will feature his experience and practices in managing and engaging large classes with over 300 students with diverse backgrounds and his adoption of experiential learning approaches. Nicknamed ‘Dr. Fire’, Jason will also discuss his involvement in STEM education, including bringing Chemistry into popular TV programs and social media. Lastly, he will share his teaching experience as an instructor in the Minerva Schools-HKUST Scholars Program.

Speaker Dr. Jason CHAN, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Dr. Jason CHAN is a Lecturer of Chemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 2014. He obtained his BA and MSci degrees at the University of Cambridge, and his PhD degree in Bio-organic Chemistry from the University of St Andrews in 2014.
