Seminar and Individual Consultation on Academic Writing Skills

LTTC and GS will jointly organise a seminar and individual consultation on “Academic Writing Skills” on 3 May 2019 (Friday). You are cordially invited to join the semiar and consultation sessions. Details are as follows:

Making Research Contributions as Expressing Passion and Setting up Goals:
Skills for Writing up Academic English Papers
The seminar will start with short stories about how the speaker conducted her major research projects <Taiwan Epic Game> and <The Great Voyage Game>, explore the research issues and compile the scholastic publications. In the process, perspectives and skills of writing up academic papers would be shared.In the seminar and one-to-one consultation session, the speaker would guide the participants to:

  1. Elicit important concepts from their research (by demonstrating her projects and inviting them to think together).
  2. Talk about what to do when writing up papers based on step one when composing paper structures (The speaker will talk about skills and things that should be paid attention to in each paper section).
  3. Transform fun research into good papers.

II. Individual Consultation

Five individual consultation sessions will be arranged. The session in the afternoon will be conducted as one-to-one consultation sessions that guide participants to reflect on their own research, and together to solicit tips and skills about delivering research contributions. Thesis writing suggestions can be offered.

  1. Each session will be half an hour and available on a first come first served basis.
  2. Colleagues should register for one session only.
  3. Participants are highly recommended to bring along your writing (e.g. a chapter of your thesis/dissertation) with you for discussion during the consultation.


Participation in this seminar can be counted towards the Certificate Course “Introduction to Teaching in Higher Education”, under the Theme Seminars/Workshops in Learning and Teaching.
