Online Student Teacher Education Program: Teams and OneNote


In collaboration with Microsoft, the LTTC is offering a hybrid programme riding on its Student Teacher Education Program (STEP) to prepare our pre-service teachers who are new to integrating technology to be successful in using technology tools to create interactive and collaborative learning environments that empower learners.



By the end of the programme, participants should feel confident with basic use of Teams and OneNote and be able to:

  • Understand how to create a Microsoft Team in Office 365
  • Build awareness of the multiple functions Microsoft Teams can serve as an online learning platform
  • Practice using Teams as an extension of classroom learning
  • Navigate and use OneNote, as well as set up, organize and arrange notebooks for student and teacher use of OneNote as a productivity tool
  • Understand how teachers and students can use OneNote as a collaborative learning tool


The whole programme will be 7 hours. Participants are expected to complete 5 hours of online lessons on the following 5 topics related to Teams and OneNote through the Student Teacher Education Program (STEP): 

  • Transform Learning with Microsoft Teams (1 hour)
  • Crafting a collaborative learning environment with Class Teams (1 hour)
  • Getting Started with OneNote (1 hour)
  • Independent learning with math tools in OneNote (1 hour)
  • OneNote Class Notebook: A teacher’s all-in-one notebook for students (1 hour)

Participants who complete the 5-hour online lessons will be invited to join a 2-hour online tutorial to have some hands-on practice of Microsoft Teams and OneNote, and understand good practices from innovative educators. For the schedule and enrollment, please refer to the table below:


Schedule and Enrollment

Date 1st Round:
·      Self-learn: 26 July – 12 August 2020 (self-learn);
·      Online tutorial: 2:00 – 4:00 pm on 14 Aug 2020 (Friday)

2nd Round:
·      Self-learn: 18 August – 3 September 2020 (self-learn);
·      Online tutorial: 2:00 – 4:00 pm on 9 September 2020 (Wednesday)

Duration and Mode 7 hours (5 hours online self-learn + 2 hours online tutorial)
Quota 40 students
Deadline 2 August 2020 for first round;
3 September 2020 for second round.


For student who completed the programme, you will get the e-badges issued by Microsoft. Furthermore, you will get a certificate issued by Microsoft and LTTC. And the hours of the programme will be recorded in the Experiential Learning and Achievements Transcript (ELAT).
