“Students Engaging”: How Possible is it at Course Teaching and Programme Management?
Building on the theories of student engagement, this seminar shares some personal strategies to “students engaging” at course teaching and programme management. Research findings will also be shared and which informed it’s not just investment in educationally (purposive) effective practices but also the design of learning activities and feedback as well as developing students’ authentic skills that truly matters.

Speaker: Dr HUI King Fai Sammy [C&I]
Dr Sammy HUI is currently Associate Vice President (Student Learning) and Principal Lecturer of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr HUI’s major teaching areas are assessment and research methods and his research areas cover outcomes of learning, educational assessment and evaluation, and teacher leadership.

Teaching Without Borders – How to Bridge Differences in Teaching
In this talk, I would like to share with participants on how I apply my teaching philosophy in real life. Through connecting our students with the refugees and students from other parts of the world working on justice issues, I would like to explain how we create a powerful and insightful learning experience through practice to transcend differences and borders.

Speaker: Dr NG Fung Sheung Isabella [APS]
Isabella is an assistant professor and associate head (teaching and learning) in the Department of Asian and Policy Studies. Her research area includes anthropology of migration, gender and development and media studies. She is also a founder of The Hong Kong Society for Asylum-seekers and Refugees.
