Presentation 1
Promoting Art Appreciation Among B.Ed.(ECE) In-service Student Teachers, Kindergartens and Students Through the Padlet
The presentation is about a TDG project on using Padlet to promote art appreciation among B.Ed.(ECE) part-time students and young children. In the phase 1, the students constructed a Padlet wall introducing museum exhibits. In the phase 2, ten kindergartens displayed their children’s artworks and verbal presentation on Padlet walls. The students, school principals, teachers and children offered positive feedback on the use of Padlet. Difficulties encountered in the project will also be shared.

The presenter was an art teacher in secondary schools before joining the HKIED in 1995. She shifted her focus on teacher education in early childhood sector since 1996. Her research interest covers curriculum studies, assessment of children’s development especially in visual arts activities. At present, she is a senior lecturer in the Department of Early Childhood Education, EdUHK.

Supporting College Students with Special Need in Neurodevelopmental Disorders (SpLD, ASD and ADHD)
This project aims at advancing the equality and diversity in the learning environment and experience at EdUHK, as well as other tertiary education institutions, by examining the learning experience of mature students with neurodevelopmental disorders (SpLD, ASD and ADHD). It aims at exploring different effective and innovative practices to enhance their learning and whole-person development in college education. This project also explores the benefit and role of a professional psychoeducational assessment in promoting the learning experiences of students with neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as enhancing the teaching efficacy of their corresponding stakeholders. This seminar discusses some practical guidelines for advancing equal learning opportunities for students with neurodevelopmental disorders in EdUHK and other tertiary education institutions, in order to create an inclusive learning and teaching environment.
Speaker: Dr TSO Van Yip [PS]
The presenter is an assistant professor at the Department of Psychology, EdUHK. Trained as a professional educational psychologist, his research aims at revealing the neuro-cognitive mechanisms of learning and applying his research findings into practice. He has a particular interest in research related, but not limited, to literacy and language development, developmental dyslexia and special education. He utilizes a variety of research methods in his studies including behavioural, cognitive, and electrophysiological techniques such as EEG.
