Staff Professional Development for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching

The Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC) has developed the Staff Professional Development (SPD) Programme for all academic/teaching staff of the University. In partnership with academic departments and Teaching Development Grant (TDG) project teams, LTTC has organized a series of SPD activities since August 2013. The SPD Programme consists of different components as below:

1. Certificate Course “Introduction to Teaching in Higher Education” (including Staff Induction)
2. Seminars/Workshops in Learning and Teaching
3. Learning and Teaching Support
4. Peer Support of Teaching Scheme
5. Online Video Resources, including
  • e-Learning Pedagogy – Open Class Observation and Post-class Discussion
  • Online Learning Packages – Development of Student Generic Learning Outcomes (GILOs)
  • Approaches to Supervising Postgraduate Students
  • Teaching Awardees’ Sharing
  • Sharing of Teaching Development Grants (TDG) Project Implementation
6. Creating your own video resources
6.1 Lecture Capture Services
  • The Lecture Capture Services are supported in 5 Lecture Theatres, namely, C-LP-11, D1-LP-02, D1-LP-03, D1-LP-04, and D2-LP-05.
  • Staff could make request for the service by completing the “Classroom Service Request Form (F017)” available on ocio/forms. For details, please visit https://www.eduhk.hk/ocio/lecture-capture-services.

6.2 Video Production Room
  • Colleagues only need to bring a USB drive and their lecture materials, e.g. PowerPoint file, to the room for self-help video recording.
  • Supported by LTTC, colleagues can book the Video Production Room (E-P-16) via iBooking.
