Series of Hong Kong Higher Education Teaching Awardees’ Experience Sharing (2) – Seminar and Workshop

LTTC started a brand new Series of Hong Kong Higher Education Teaching Awardees’ Experience Sharing in 2014/15. For this Series, we have invited Teaching Awardees from other local higher education institutions to deliver a seminar of 1 hour and then a workshop of about 1.5 hours on the same day on each occasion.

Presenter/ Facilitator Dr. Daniel Churchill is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, The University of Hong Kong.
About the  Presenter/ Facilitator Dr. Churchill specializes in applications of Information Technologies in education and human development. He has specific research and teaching interest in design of educational multimedia, learning objects, mobile learning, Web 2.0 e-learning systems and Apps design, and has been active in researching learning designs models and pedagogies for technology supported learning. Series of Hong Kong Higher Education Teaching Awardees’ Experience Sharing (2) – Seminar: Higher Education in the 21st Century: Transformation of Teaching and Learning Through 3D Curriculum Approach

Abstract This presentation highlights issues to be addressed in order for reforms of education around the world to be relevant and contemporary. While there are many other issues to be resolved, this presentation focuses on the importance and influences of technological developments on education, and the need for education authorities to modernize the processes of learning and teaching through changes in (1) curricula, (2) pedagogy, (3) resources and (4) methods of assessment. Each of these is treated in the presentation, and the specific proposals for the transformation are presented. Furthermore, the RASE (Resources-Activity-Support-Evaluation) learning design model will be introduced.

Abstract This workshop is a part of a series of workshops with overreaching aim to transform teachers’ pedagogical practice in learning-centered direction, and equip them with the conceptual framework for productive utility of technologies in achieving learning outcomes. In this workshop, attention is given to effective curriculum design, course documentation, different forms of curriculum content knowledge that range beyond the traditionally predominant form, new literacies for 21st century, and development of learning designs for implementation.
