Abstract This seminar discusses the use of the ePortfolio in the context of an advanced English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). It seeks to address three main questions:(a)  What is the key purpose of the language ePortfolio at the PolyU?(b)  What insights have we been able to gain through the use of the

ePortfolio about:

– students’ learning and progress in language and communication skills?

– the impact of the advanced EAP course on students’ learning in language and communication skills?

(c)  How have we used this data on students’ performance from the ePortfolio with respect to course development, pedagogy and assessment methods?

Data from the course is presented and preliminary findings from an ongoing GRF-funded project – in collaboration with the EdUHK – to promote the development of reflective language learning skills are also reported.
