Abstract Cloud and mobile computing technologies have drastically reshaped various ways of our daily living including our learning  activities.  In  this  seminar,  we  will  investigate  how  cloud  computing  may  combine  with  other  latest technologies, such as learning analytics, mobile technologies, and social networking, that can potentially bring great  advantages  to  facilitate  the  learning  process  in  general,  thus  possibly  useful  for  developing  the  next-generation e-learning systems in the long term. In this direction, we will also review and share our experiences in several past teaching development projects, in collaboration with other faculty members, industrial practitioners and world-renowned research centers, to explore the exciting opportunities provided by cloud and/or mobile computing  technologies  to  facilitate  students’  learning  in  various  aspects.  Last  but  not  least,  the  preliminary evaluation results and students’ feedback in relevant projects will be carefully considered to reveal how such feedback  may  constructively  shed  lights  on  our  future  endeavor  of  the  next-generation  e-learning  systems.

Workshop: Experience Sharing and Discussion on Where Cloud/Mobile Computing Technologies May Help or Not ?!
Date 8 May 2015 (Fri)
Time 2:15 – 4:00 p.m.
Venue C-1/F-01A (Library e-Learning Studio), Tai Po Campus

Abstract In this workshop, a number of e-learning applications related to the uses of cloud and/or mobile computing technologies will be quickly reviewed. Some of these e-learning applications were developed in the previous teaching development projects by our or other teams from around the globe. On top of it, we will share our experience of  developing  and  using  such  e-learning  systems/tools  in  different  teaching  and  learning  scenarios.  More importantly, there will be meaningful group discussions to follow up on deeper and stimulating thoughts about where cloud/mobile computing technologies may or may not help, and their possible pedagogical impacts, etc.
