Useful tools for Video Management/ Production in L&T

Panopto@EdUHK insert_link

Panopto is a video management platform that allows teachers and students to record, edit, share and manage videos.

Panopto can be used for recording live lectures, creating instructional videos and creating student assessments. For example, students can submit videos as assignments, quiz questions can be embedded into lecture videos and be used as timely assessments when students watch the videos. With Panopto, teachers can easily view analytics reports that show which students watched each video, how long students watched videos before dropping off, and more. It’s valuable information that allows teachers to monitor student progress and identify specific moments where students are most engaged in learning.

Students can take notes that are saved as personal bookmarks, speed up and slow down video playback, and even search for any word spoken or shown in the video and instantly jump to a specific, relevant moment as they are studying.

VBLC insert_link

With the objective to explore the potential of sharing digital videos for enhancing learning and teaching activities of the University, Video-based Learning Community (VBLC) has been developed by LTTC with more than 300 staff and 900 student accounts created in VBLC and more than one thousand videos uploaded supporting various learning and teaching activities. We aim at developing a user-friendly web-based platform for a one-stop service of managing, editing, and sharing videos in teaching and learning. By allowing VBLC users to upload videos and create their own learning community, both staff and students can share their own self-produced videos to specific communities, discuss and construct knowledge on various topics such as good practices of teaching. The VBLC can be further enhanced to a Learning Management System platform achieving the aims of sharing multimedia teaching materials, online learning activities and teaching practice assessment.

User Guide

To use the VBLC services, staff members need to apply for a VBLC account by sending a request to LTTC through lttc@eduhk.hk.
