Digital Competency Requirement (DCR) (for students admitted in 2024/25)

Changes in emerging technologies have placed at the forefront the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that will equip students with the required level of Digital Competency Requirement (DCR) to succeed. In recognition of the impacts of technologies, students who are admitted in 2024/25 can fulfill the DCR by completing one of the pathways.

DCR as Graduation Requirements
In recognition of the impacts of technologies, students admitted in the following programmes must fulfill Digital Competency Requirement (DCR)(數碼能力要求).

  • All undergraduate programmes
  • Programmes leading to QTS such as Postgraduate Diploma in Education programmes
  • Programmes leading to QKT such as Sub-degree in Education programmes
Information Technology Competency in Education (ITCE) (for students admitted before 2024/25)

Changes in emerging technologies have placed at the forefront the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that will equip students with the required level of Information Technology Competency in Education (ITCE) to succeed. In recognition of the impacts of technologies, students who are admitted in or after 2020/21 can fulfill the ITCE requirement by completing at least one of the pathways. ITCE as Graduation Requirements
In recognition of the impacts of technologies, students admitted in the following programmes must fulfill the requirements under the Information Technology Competency in Education (ITCE) framework (「教育資訊科技能力」框架).

  • All Undergraduate programmes
  • Programmes leading to QTS such as Postgraduate Diploma in Education programmes
  • Programmes leading to QKT such as Sub-degree in Education programmes

Student Teacher Education Program (STEP)

Introduction

In collaboration with Microsoft Hong Kong, the LTTC is offering a hybrid programme riding on its Student Teacher Education Program (STEP) to prepare our pre-service teachers who are new to integrating technology to be successful in using technology tools to create interactive and collaborative learning environments that empower learners.

Objectives

By the end of the programme, participants should feel confident with basic use of Teams and OneNote and be able to:

    • Build awareness of the multiple functions Microsoft Teams can serve as an online learning platform 
    • Practice using Teams as an extension of classroom learning 
    • Navigate and use OneNote, as well as set up, organize and arrange notebooks for student and teacher use as a learning, teaching and assessment tool 
    • Understand how teachers and students can use OneNote as a collaborative learning tool 

Semester II, 2024/25

Course Details

The whole programme will be 7 hours. Participants are expected to complete 5 hours of online lessons on the following 5 compulsory topics related to Teams and OneNote through Microsoft Learn:

  • Structure Teams through channels, tabs, files, and apps (Get started with Microsoft Teams for Education)
  • Assign and assess learners with assignments and forms in Teams (Organize content, create assignments, and assess learners’ understanding in Teams)
  • Converse, collaborate, and build community in Teams (Build a digital learning hub with Class Teams)
  • Get started with OneNote
  • OneNote Class Notebook: A teacher’s all-in-one notebook for students

Duration: 7 hours (About 5 hours online self-learn + 2 hours face-to-face workshop)

Language: Cantonese
(English language part will be introduced in English)

Remarks

* Students are expected to attend the workshop. The workshop will be delivered by Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts who are experienced leaders and teachers in e-learning and hybrid learning.

* Students are required to submit a micro-teaching video after attending the F2F workshop to demonstrate their hands-on practice of online teaching. More information will be announced during the F2F workshop.

Rewards

Students who completed the programme and the tasks will be awarded the e-badges issued by Microsoft and a certificate issued by LTTC of EdUHK. They can also opt for STEP pathway to fulfill DCR/ITCE as Graduation Requirement.

Artificial Intelligence Literacy (AIL)

Introduction

In collaboration with Microsoft, the LTTC is offering a hybrid programme riding on its Microsoft Learn AI Fundamentals to promote AI literacy to our students who are curious about AI. With more understanding of AI, we will be better prepared to face the current and future AI-infused society.

Objectives

The whole programme will be around 7.5 hours, including 5.5-hour online self-learning and 2-hour face-to-face workshop. Participants are expected to complete 5.5 hours of online learning on the following topics related to AI.

    • Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals: AI Overview
    • Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals: Computer Vision
    • Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals: Natural Language Processing

    Language: Cantonese supplemented with some English terms

    Certificate and Badge

    Students who completed the programme and the tasks will be awarded the e-badges/e-certs issued by Microsoft and a certificate issued by LTTC of EdUHK. Please note that this is non-credit-bearing activities and will not affect the graduation of final year students.
