Prepare Self-directed Learners for the Future Learning
In an increasingly changing world, Dr. Hu led the transformation of blended learning approaches and pedagogical play strategies. Specifically, she led teaching teams that worked with the faculty E-learning Innovation Team to co-create four e-learning packages for supporting more than 1700 students (1) 360-degree virtual field trips, (2) 360-degree virtual school visits, (3) designing school gardens using augmented reality (AR), and (4) a digital platform to share self-directed teaching aids. She was the first lecturer to pioneer the Creative Lab (Pilot Future Classroom) in 2018. Beyond normal learning settings, her students engaged in co-designing and co-creating the flexible learning spaces in Future Early Childhood & Primary Classroom in 2021.

CARE Teaching Approach: Personal Care and the Academic “Creative-Adaptive-Reflective-Effective” Strategies
Teacher’s care is important in the teaching and learning activities, which can be conceptualized into two main categories: personal care and academic care. Personal care is the heartful motivation for a teacher to care about students’ self-esteem and well-being; while academic care is the strategical wisdom to enhance students’ school engagement and learning outcomes, which can be further decomposed into the features of C(creative)-A(adaptive)-R(reflective)-E(effective). Practices along the CARE teaching approach will be illustrated in this seminar.
