Abstract

Implementing English Across the Curriculum: Opportunities and Challenges

In this presentation, the inter-institutional English Across the Curriculum (EAC) team that received the UGC Teaching Award 2022 in the Collaborative Teams category will share how they started the EAC journey and how they came together, sharing the same vision and passion of working with academic faculty from multiple disciplines to provide timely and targeted English language support to undergraduate students for their academic pursuit. They will share some of the opportunities they have seized to create affordances to actualise their vision, as well as some of the challenges that they have encountered.

Bio

The inter-institutional team that received the UGC Teaching Award 2022 in the Collaborative Teams category comprises Dr Julia Chen, Director of the Educational Development Centre and courtesy Associate Professor of the Department of English and Communication at PolyU, and four members from the language centre in their respective universities: Dr Grace Lim from PolyU, Ms Christy Chan from CityU, Ms Vicky Man from Baptist U, and Dr Elza Tsang from HKUST.
